A Recap of Anti-Bullying Week

Anti-Bullying Week, an annual initiative dedicated to fostering awareness and promoting kindness, recently took centre stage in schools and communities worldwide. The overarching theme this year focused on uniting against bullying, encouraging students and educators to stand together against this pervasive issue. Beyond the educational aspects, the week also offered exciting opportunities for students to win freebies, adding an extra layer of engagement.

Throughout the week students were able to engage in workshops, and a chance to chat with our well-being team over a cup of tea or coffee and speak about any issues that have come up. Our Station Plaza and Ore Valley campus also worked with ‘Ditch The Label’ to get students speaking about mental health, whilst also giving out some free merchandise for them to wear throughout the whole year. Over in Lewes, students engaged with Student Experience Coordinator, Tessa Echalaz, talking about bullying, what they would do if they witnessed it and how they would report it. Our Libraries also got involved, helping students with resources and stories of people who have overcome bullying or helped build a change in their communities.

Dan Glover, ESC Student Experience Coordinator at East Sussex College Hastings said, "It’s always great to get students talking especially with such a challenging topic. We are very grateful to be able to collaborate with Ditch The Label again with another event and we cannot wait to continue partnering with them going forward”

Anti-Bullying Week not only served as a platform for disseminating crucial information but also celebrated the collective efforts of students in creating a positive and supportive atmosphere.
