What A Way To Start The Year!
We have had a busy start to this academic year with all varieties of events and activities we have put together for ESCG students across all campuses. From massive events like Freshers where we had so many external organisations come in to show you what they had to offer in your area, different clubs and societies set up for students to enjoy outside of the classroom, and for the first time we had a Degree fair to introduce you to what the future may hold for you after your time with us!
Here is a recap of major events that went on last term:
Freshers
This year’s Freshers events were the biggest events that the college has ever held with over 2000 students engaging across our campuses. Students had the chance have fun on inflatables, arcade machines and air hockey tables as well as hold snakes, lizards, giant African snails and even stroke a tortoise or two with the incredible ‘Jaws N Claws’. They also were able to engage with local companies and charities about volunteering, careers and how to get involved.
County Lines
Alter Ego performed the true-life story of Randal, a young person manipulated into the drugs industry, after being groomed by a man with the promise of easy money and a better life. The theatre performance of the project ‘CountyLines’ warned students of the dangers of getting involved in County Lines and explained how they could safeguard themselves.
Black History Month
In a vibrant celebration of diversity and cultural appreciation, students came together to participate in exhilarating African drumming workshops. This provided an invaluable opportunity for young minds to delve into the rich tapestry of African heritage through the universal language of music, led by seasoned Djembe and cultural musician, Ali Bangoura.
Student Voice
Our first round of meetings with our students have been very productive, narrowing down the top 10 priorities at each campus to work on improving to make everyone’s experience during their time at ESC a much more pleasant and enjoyable time overall. We are looking forward to giving feedback on our work and giving the students a voice in our campuses.
Degree Fair
This year’s degree fair was a buzzing hub of activity across our campuses. It featured booths from universities, colleges, and vocational training centres, providing attendees with the chance to engage directly with representatives from various academic disciplines. From business and technology to the arts and sciences, the fair offered a comprehensive exploration of potential paths, allowing participants to make informed decisions about their educational journeys.
My Student Life Make Over
We recently gave our website a make over to make it more accessible and user friendly for everyone. This will help you find out all our events, activities, clubs and societies, blogs and notices, and any other amazing things you can think of that Student Enrichment are involved with.
