I hope you all had a lovely half-term break!

This week we have our LGBTQIA+ History Month event happening on Friday 23rd Feb in the Refectoy.

This is also your last week to sign up to the FREE lunch at King’s Restaurant for International Women’s Day.

There is no film society this week as King’s Restaurant is in use. Next week they will be showing ‘Pride’ (2014).


FREE LUNCH

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

This year we will be hosting a 2-course lunch in King’s Restaurant for International Women’s Day. We have several guests in attendance from various industries, some of whom attended East Sussex College themselves. You will be able to order the guests in terms of relevancy to your subject area, and will be placed on a table with one of them and other students to chat throughout the meal.

LGBTQIA+ HISTORY MONTH

On Friday 23rd February we will be hosting an event for LGBTQIA+ History Month in the Refectory.

Come and talk to Allsorts, MindOut and People Services. Or make a pronoun badge for your lanyard with members of the Student Council.

This event is for students and staff.

The Library also have several books on display, which you can take a look at and read throughout February.


FILM SOCIETY

There will be no film society this week.

Next week they will be showing ‘Pride’ (2014) in King’s Restaurant.

Overview:

Based on a true story, it depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners' strike in 1984, at the outset of what would become the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners campaign.

The film was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and for the BAFTA for Best British Film, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Imelda Staunton and for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.

Thank you to those who proposed clubs and societies. Over the next few weeks we will try to get some of these running. In the mean time, don’t forget these are available on campus throughout the week also. Definitely worth dropping in!
