MAY: We Have Always Lived In The Castle, Shirley Jackson
“This novel was not a genre I normally read, however, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. The characters are unique and each hold completely different qualities, while still being immensely close with one another. For instance, Mary Kat can be presented as a selfish character at times, while still being close to her older sister, Constance, who is a caring and selfless character. Mary Kat’s dialog and thoughts about death came as a shock to me as a reader as she is only young. However, Mary Kat is seen to be mature for her age which is seen through her choice of language and her understanding of manifestation.
I rated this book a 3.5/5 as I enjoyed the nature of the character, however, I feel like there was no meaning to how the book ended and there could have been a bigger sense of conclusion.”
