Google Account Change

We are changing the login details for all Google user accounts.

FROM: YOURSTUDENTNUMBER@CHROME.ESCG.AC.UK e.g. 12345@CHROME.ESCG.AC.UK

To: YOURSTUDENTNUMBER@ESCG.AC.UK e.g. 12345@ESCG.AC.UK

It is now the same account you use to log into computers and email.

The password remains the same.

Why are we doing this?

To enable all users access to both Google and Microsoft services using the same login credentials, eliminating the need to remember separate passwords and usernames.

• Centralised Management:

  • We mainly use Microsoft services, using a single Microsoft identity platform makes it easier to manage user access. 

• Improved User Experience:

  • Users only have to remember one set of login details to access both Google and Microsoft apps. 

• Security Benefits:

  • We can improve security by applying the same access rules across both platforms.

• Government funding compliance:

  • The college must enable MFA for all cloud services to meet ESFA requirements for Cyber Essentials certification.
