Free Showing of ‘The Reason I Jump’
Based on the book by Naoki Higashida, this immersive film explores the experiences of non-speaking autistic people around the world.
We shall be doing a free showing of this movie in The Atrium, so grab some lunch, grab a share, and watch along together.
Positive-A-Tree
Our fantastic Wellbeing Team will be asking students to write their experiences and tips for students who are neurodivergent onto a tree whilst having a cuppa.
This will be happening in The Atrium
Relaxed Movie Screening
Sit down and relax as we have a relaxed screening of Disney’s ALADDIN in Room G002.
What is a relaxed screening?
A relaxed screening takes place in an environment that is specially tailored for a neurodiverse audience, as well as those who find a more informal setting beneficial.
The cinema environment is tailored to the needs of the audience.
For this screening:
- The lights are dimmed, though not off.
- The volume levels a little lower than usual.
British Sign Language Workshop
We are excited to be able to launch more British Sign Language Workshops which both staff and students will have access to.
This will be taking place in G002 which is a side room off The Atrium.
Neurodivergent & LGBTQIA+: The 'Double Rainbow' Intersection
This NCW event celebrates people who are both LGBTQIA+ and Neurodivergent; an intersection often referred to as the ‘double rainbow’ because we fall into two spectrums, both of which use rainbow imagery.
There is a strong correlation between neurodivergence and LGBTQIA+ and we are unfortunately at much higher risk of discrimination, bullying, and suicide. This needs to change!

Supported Education Art Showcase
Our Supported Education students will be hosting an Art Showcase all week long in The Atrium. These students have been working hard throughout the academic year in the lead up to this event, so please do take time to take a look.
An Introduction to Neurodiversity Webinar
This webinar will provide an introduction to neurodiversity and specific neurodifferences for those new to the topic. It will raise awareness about the value neurodiversity can bring to society and equip you to better understand and support neurodivergent family members, friends and colleagues. It will also provide a good foundation of knowledge to help you get the most out of the panel events taking place throughout Neurodiversity Celebration Week.
You can sign up by clicking here.
Library Resources
Our libraries will be putting on a wide range of resources throughout the whole week highlighting different areas and aspects of Neurodiversity. Be sure to head up to the library on the second floor at Station Plaza and find out more.
Neurodiverse Psychologist Workshop
In the lead up to Neurodiversity Week we have a visiting Educational Psychologist visiting our Hastings campus. They are meeting with any student who neurodiverse to be part of a project looking at their personal experiences with a mainstream setting.
