Hastings Student Notices
Welcome back to Station Plaza! We hope you’ve had a restful break and are excited to return. Remember, we’re always here to help and want your experience with us to be fantastic, so never hesitate to get in touch or share your thoughts.
It may be a new term, but it’s still February—and this month, we’re celebrating LGBT+ History Month. In the last student notices, we learned what the L and G stand for, but what about the B and T ? Whether you’re part of the LGBT+ community or not, let’s commit to supporting and respecting one another, embracing the unique qualities that make us who we are—not just this month, but every day going forward.

What is the B in LGBT+
The "B" in LGBT+ stands for "BISEXUAL"
A bisexual is someone who is attracted to people of more than one gender, either emotionally, romantically, or sexually .
A common misconception is that bisexual people can't truly be attracted to two genders. This is not true. A bisexual person’s orientation is valid, regardless of how they express or experience their attraction. For example, if a bisexual person chooses to be with a man, it doesn't make them any less bisexual. They should not be dismissed based on stereotypes.
What does the T in LGBT+ ?
the “t” in lgbt+ stands for transgender.Trans people are individuals whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth. Non-binary people, who don’t identify strictly as male or female, also fall under this umbrella.
Being trans can come with challenges in 2025 like discrimination and limited access to gender-affirming healthcare. Some trans people may choose not to have surgery, and that is completely valid. It can be tough, but nothing is better than being true to yourself. There are people out there who will love you for who you truly are. It's important to respect and support each person’s unique journey and choices.
