Nostalgia and Laughter with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Lights dimmed, popcorn rustling, and a palpable excitement in the air, our Lewes campus film club embarked on a cinematic journey into the past with the screening of the timeless classic, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

The first film club screening of this iconic '80s film proved to be a memorable event for students and staff alike.

The film, directed by John Hughes, took us on a day-long adventure with the charismatic and rebellious Ferris Bueller, as he ditched school to explore the city of Chicago. The movie's humour, relatable teenage escapades, and Bueller's sage advice on the importance of enjoying life resonated with the audience, transcending generational boundaries.

The film club's gathering was more than just a movie night; it was a communal experience that ignited discussions about the timeless appeal of Hughes' storytelling and the memorable characters he created. It also served as a reminder of the importance of taking a "day off" to unwind and savour life's simple pleasures.

As we exited the screening, the smiles on our faces echoed the film's message – that sometimes, taking a break from our daily routines is just what we need. "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" may be a blast from the past, but its charm remains evergreen, making it a perfect choice for our college film club's inaugural screening. It left us eagerly anticipating the next cinematic journey that this club has in store…

DON’T MISS OUR NEXT SCREENING: The Nightmare Before Christmas on Thurs 9th Nov at 4.45pm in the Student Lecture Theatre.
