Students Go Green!

Staff and students from East Sussex College Hastings recently had the opportunity to find out more about Green Energy, find out more about the carbon footprint and take a look at wind energy with mini wind turbines.

The ESC Green Training Hub took centre stage with an opportunity for students to learn more about the environment, their own carbon footprint, the chance to plant their own vegetables and produce their own wind energy with mini wind turbines just in one session!

Students and staff had the opportunity to work collaboratively to think about new ideas of green energy, whilst ESC Green Training Hub lead, Matt Roberts was able to enthusiastically tell students all that East Sussex College are up to to play their part. This includes putting solar panels on our Ore Valley campus. It might be putting Air Source Heat Pumps at our Station Plaza or Lewes Campuses. We have even started courses in green energy to help towards our planets future!

We even recently secured Salix grant funds from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) to deliver energy-saving projects. East Sussex College joins the likes of Sky with the aim of becoming carbon zero by 2030.

ESC Hastings Student Experience Coordiantor, Dan Glover said

“It was such a fantastic opportunity for students. Not only to have the chance to learn more about the environment as whole, not only what we are doing as a college, but a chance to look practically at how they could help”.

Students who would like to know more about the ESC Green Training Hub or courses that run their then head www.esctraininghub.com.
